Original series

The three historical series were on the air in Japan between 1986 and 1997, and are still broadcast all over the world. The first two series (Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z) are the animated version of the story told in the manga volumes, with some unpublished sequences; the third series (Dragon Ball GT) is an anime on its own, being not related to the manga.

Remastered series

In 2009 the broadcast of a DBZ remake was announced in Japan: Dragon Ball Kai, as it has been called, shows once more the most famous series in high definition and with several editings aimed at bringing the episodes close to the manga.
